Sailing trips, experiences:

We're new to Yare, having just bought her from her previous owner, West Coast Rick, in January. So far we've only sailed her on San Francisco Bay and the Sacramento Delta. We intend to take her down the West Coast to Cabo San Lucas some time next year.

Fueling at Benicia Marina

Boat Condition:

Yare's in great shape. We just had her hauled for bottom paint and new seacocks, and replaced the rub rail while we were at it. She earned high marks from the surveyor, who had nothing but praise for Watkins boats.

Upgrades by you or other owners:

Custom teak companionway hatch doors, custom entertainment cabinet, custom C Cushions, dodger, heater/air conditioner installed in hanging locker.

Sailing San Francisco Bay

Planned projects:

This spring we'll be replumbing the head and replacing the holding tank, replacing all the lifelines, and building an overhead galley cabinet to match the style of the entertainment cabinet. There's been some talk of installing a microwave oven, but we'll have to see about that. First things first, however, I'm going to hook up a solar battery charger to ensure plenty of power on our cruises.

Custom teak companionway doors detach in seconds.

Custom entertainment cabinet allows a break from the sailing. Works great, but doesn’t get much use.
